The Macallan Oscuro 1824 Collection

The unique flavor of Macallan's Oscuro comes entirely from the oak casks that have been seasoned with Oloroso sherry. Because a high proportion of these casks are first-fill, they impart a rich, deep color and intense flavor to the whisky. It is because of this distinctive character and warm, rich complexity derived from the sherry-seasoned casks that this whisky is named "OSCURO," meaning "deep and dark" in Spanish.
At the peak of maturation in the casks, the distiller uses natural spring water from the Macallan estate's underground well to reduce the alcohol content slightly to 46.5%. The whisky is then left to mature in the casks for at least six months to allow all the flavors to "marry" and create a harmonious symphony. No further reduction or flavoring is done, and it is filtered at room temperature using a non-chill filtration process before being bottled for your enjoyment.
